The River Kosi floods in 2008 were probably one of the worst natural disasters ever to hit the nation. The flood vanquished most of the alluvial plains- once home to a dense agrarian population. Infamously known as the “Sorrow of Bihar”, the Kosi floods ravaged the districts of Purnea, Madhepura, and Saharsa resulting in a colossal loss of life and property; dislodging almost one and a half million people from their homes with almost no hope of survival.
In the wake of this catastrophe, LEADS took upon itself the daunting task of rehabilitating the worst affected victims, the children.
Consequently, LEADS adopted 22 children from various Kosi flood relief camps across Bihar. With the blessings of Hon’ble Chief Minister of Bihar, Mr. Nitish Kumar; these children were brought to Ranchi and enrolled in Star International School. We had pledged to meet all their needs and provide a quality education so that they could grow into smart and responsible individuals.
We are proud to inform you that five of our students cleared the All India Secondary School Examination (2020) conducted by CBSE board. Mausam Kumar performed exceptionally well and scored 85.8% in the exams.
