Leads

LEADS is a non-profit organisation working to create better opportunities for the tribal children of Jharkhand. Founded in 1999 by Dinesh Kumar Singh and Sanchaita Singh, we have been committed to helping marginalised communities grow through education, leadership and social development ever since.

At the heart of our work is Project AKSHARA (which means "letter" or "literacy" in Hindi), our Tribal Girl Child Empowerment Program. We work with girls from underserved tribal communities in Jharkhand, who are often plagued by challenges such as poverty, gender inequality and limited access to quality education.

Through the society-run, CBSE-affiliated Star International School, LEADS works with tribal girls between the ages of 6 and 18, wherein they participate in academic support, life skills training, sports, health and nutrition initiatives, mentorship, and leadership activities. They are supported by committed educators, mentors, volunteers, and community members who believe in creating a world where every girl can reach her full potential. Beyond the classroom walls, we also work closely with families and communities to create safe and supportive environments where girls can thrive. By encouraging confidence, critical thinking, and teamwork, we help our girls discover their strengths and realise their full potential.

At LEADS, we truly believe that empowering girls creates lasting change. When girls are educated and given the right opportunities, they become leaders in their families, role models in their communities, and active participants in building a more equal society.
